EDI Services

Embedding equality, diversity, inclusion, and belonging into organisational systems, culture, and decision-making.

Our EDI services support organisations to move beyond statements of intent towards meaningful, evidence-based action. We work with organisations to understand structural inequalities, cultural dynamics, and systemic barriers, and to address them in ways that are practical, credible, and sustainable.

At BeSmart Business Consultum & Training Services, equality, diversity, inclusion, and belonging are not treated as standalone initiatives. They are integrated into organisational development, leadership practice, policy, and service delivery. Our work is grounded in data, lived experience, and organisational context—recognising that effective EDI work must be both principled and pragmatic.

EDI DIAGNOSTIC & ORGANISATIONAL INSIGHT

Meaningful progress on equality, diversity, inclusion, and belonging begins with honest reflection and robust insight. We support organisations to ask the right questions, examine evidence critically, and understand how values, systems, and lived experiences align in practice.

Our EDI diagnostic work is structured around key areas that shape inclusive organisational performance.

Strategy, Governance and Legal Responsibility

We support organisations to examine how equality, diversity, and inclusion are embedded within organisational strategy, governance, and decision-making. This includes exploring how EDI priorities align with organisational values, strategic objectives, and statutory duties under the Equality Act 2010. This work helps organisations understand whether EDI is genuinely integrated or operating in parallel to core business priorities.

Culture, Belonging and Organisational Climate

A sense of belonging cannot be assumed—it must be actively created. We help organisations assess the prevailing mood, behaviours, and cultural signals that shape whether people feel valued, respected, and included. This includes examining motivation, engagement, and whether staff feel a genuine sense of connection to organisational values and purpose.

Workforce Diversity and Inclusion in Practice

We support organisations to explore workforce diversity in a nuanced and evidence-led way. This includes understanding representation across roles and levels, as well as how effectively the organisation responds to the needs, experiences, and expectations of a diverse workforce. The focus is not only on diversity metrics, but on inclusion in everyday practice.

Policies, Processes and Systems

Policies and strategies play a critical role in enabling or undermining inclusion. We review organisational policies, procedures, and performance management processes to assess whether they are equitable, inclusive, and free from discriminatory impact. This includes examining how performance review processes embrace diversity, promote fairness, and support inclusive outcomes.

Leadership Capability and Accountability

Leaders play a central role in setting the tone for inclusion. We support organisations to assess the capability, confidence, and support available to leaders when responding to discrimination, abuse, or exclusion. This includes exploring leadership readiness, accountability structures, and the availability of development support such as cultural competency and inclusive leadership training.

Bias, Data and Decision-Making

We help organisations understand how data is used to promote organisational values, improve performance, and support inclusive decision-making. This includes examining how unconscious bias may influence recruitment, progression, performance assessment, and day-to-day decisions.
